Halloween 2010

I've been down and out for the past week with bronchitis, so there weren't many Halloween hijinks planned around our house. The cold I caught was a real doozy, and forced me to look like this for basically the whole week:

Bronchitis 2010... As Glam As It Looks

Under the covers, working from home on my laptop, surrounded by tissues, cough drops, and tea. This is right after I caught my husband sneaking in to take photos of me at work, because apparently I was a full blown 10 on the pitiful scale. This picture is also a 10 on the flattering scale. You're welcome.

I was finally well enough to go back to work by the end of the week, and made a Thursday night run to Target to find a suitable costume. Easier said than done, since all those adult female Halloween costumes don't exactly rank high on the *office appropriate* list.

Lucky me, my body frame is apparently the same size as "Young Man-Husky" in Walmart sizing, so this is what I ended up going with:

It's a-me! Mario!

Which? I found out later was the same costume as my boss's son. Amazing. And I know, again with the flattering photos. But in my defense, there isn't a single flattering thing about this costume. Which I guess was the point in the first place? Though I did wear Chanel Allure, skinny jeans, and a pair of Tory Burch riding boots underneath. A girl needs to keep at least a shred of dignity in times like these.

Halloween at work was a blast, even while suffering through 90 degree temperatures in a polyester jumpsuit. The President of the company I work for dressed up as Lady Gaga, and gave a full musical performance with backup dancers. He was in fishnets, platform heels, strapless dress, and hairbow. Magical.

The only 'social' thing The Mr. and I ended up doing was a way last-minute visit to his MBA program's Halloween party Saturday night. And only because it was across the street, and had free beer. But honestly? It was about 10 times more awesome than I thought it was going to be. I dressed a Merlotte's waitress {from True Blood}, and my husband dressed up as - get this - a currency war. Outside of his little international MBA bubble? A costume that would totally be lost on 99% of the population. But inside that bubble? That costume was a total, unequivocal HIT. My sweet, smart cerebral husband has certainly found his people. I love him.

What did you end up doing for Halloween?
