Christmas Vacation!

I hope all of you are having a delightful holiday season! I tell you, it has been a total and complete *whirlwind* around our little shoebox the last week. I still ended up catching that cold, despite pumping my body full of every cold remedy imaginable. 2 different kinds of Zicam, Mucinex, Airborne, vitamins, NyQuil at night! I felt like a walking pharmacy, but still didn't do much good.

I feel very thankful that I spent the previous few days picking up the house before the cold came down...Turns out, I misunderstood when my parents were coming into town- until my mom called Saturday morning to tell me they were just getting on the plane. Great! Nothing wakes you up out of a NyQuil coma like realizing you have 24 less hours than expected to prep for week-long house guests. I don't think I've ever jumped out of bed so quickly in my life!

Luckily, all was settled by the time they got in. Cold or no cold, we had one of the most fun weekends I can remember! The weather was quite wonderful, we ate more food than I could have possibly imagined, and saw some amazing sights. We heard the St. Thomas' Boys Choir on Christmas Eve, saw Clay Aiken prancing around in tights at Spamalot, toured the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier museum for Papa Martini's birthday, ate coal-fired pizza in Little Italy, and took the parents to an authentic Peking dinner in Chinatown. There was also a Mad Men marathon to introduce my parents to the show, and plenty of cheerful holiday cocktails consumed. Mama Martini even made her traditional Thanksgiving dinner spread on Christmas Day, complete with turkey *and* Tofurkey, to complete the week. Pure bliss.

My parents left this morning, and we've been recovering all day on the couch. Our roommate Ben has friends in from Japan for New Years Eve, and my Maid of Honor and her fiance comes into town to stay with us tomorrow. That will make it a total of 7 people sharing a tiny little 2 bedroom apartment, and only one bathroom! 'Tis the Season, right?!? I can't wait to recap how the second part of our marathon holiday season goes...

Happy almost New Year!

Clay 'prancing around in tights'...hmm do you mean EVERY OTHER ACTOR IN THE MUSICAL, TOO???? Admit it, Clay was phenomenal in his 3 roles, right???? Better than David Hyde Pierce who originated the role several years back. (Only David played the piano better! LOL -and Clay would be the first to admit it!) If Clay originated the role -which he just might have if he accepted the role back then along with several others in other musicals that were offered to him but he wanted to tour instead - he would have definately received the Tony.
