I adore the idea of Wedding Wednesdays (an idea respectfully yet blatantly stolen from one of the blogs I love to follow, A Belle And Her Beau), and find it especially fitting to implement as I’m up to my eyeballs in wedding planning. I was fully planning on my first wedding-related post Wednesday (so much to catch you up on!), but became so excited by my first “tag” that it completely slipped my mind. We have new updates on the wedding home front this morning, so a 2 day delay will just have to do.

Even though Mr. Wonderful and I happily reside in the Big Apple, we’ve decided to get married in Phoenix. Mr. W spent most of his life there, and I attended university there. I won’t get into The Story Of How We Met now (you’ll get that soon enough!), so I’ll just say that it made sense for us to get married back in Phoenix and plan the event long-distance.

Many of the details have been taken care of thus far- the dress has been chosen, the church and reception venues are booked, the bridal party has been asked. With T-minus 7 months left, it’s time to start getting down to the details. The first major detail-oriented decision Mr. W and I made was the Save The Dates. I’m an *avid* reader of Snippet & Ink, and fell in love with Laura Hooper’s custom maps the minute I saw them. Here are a few of her amazing creations (all pulled from Laura Hooper Calligraphy and A Lucky Orchid Wedding):

Maps actually play a large part in The Story Of Us, as we have lived in many places over our lives. I grew up in Colorado, studied in England during university, and have had some amazing travel experiences in Europe. Mr. Wonderful was born in California, raised in Phoenix, and lived in China until right before we met. Our relationship survived through his living in Istanbul, Doha, Washington DC, and NYC, before I finally took the plunge and moved cross-country to be in the Big Apple. Travel is clearly a very important priority to us, so a custom map couldn’t have been a better choice.

Also, I have a fun little treat to share – Mr. Wonderful and I receive a shout out on Laura Hooper’s blog this week! I’m going to lift the veil of anonymity a bit, but think it’s totally worth being able to share our 15 seconds of blog fame with you. Laura profiled part of the conversation Mr. W and I had while trying to design our map, which is both flattering and highly humorous. You can find it

We received our proof this morning, and let me tell you ladies that I couldn’t be more pleased! Laura Hooper is truly a gem, I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

As soon as everything is finalized, you all know you'll some of the first to see!

Happy Friday!

Ok I officialy DO NOT LIKE YOU ANYMORE. I am OBSESSED with these maps and I am so jealous that you're going to have them for your wedding. If I could have fit them in the budget I would have had them in a heartbeat (I LOVE Laura Hooper...she is just so talented). I am going to be living through you...sigh

Ooh, those maps are so cute! What a great idea.

Enjoy the wedding planning while it lasts; it is so stressful at times, but I promise you'll look back fondly on it. For the most part!
